Visited In September 2015

'ahlaan bikum fi eamman!!

It was an interesting long road trip with two of our friends and families from Dubai to Muscat during the Eid holidays of 2015. We started off in 2 cars from Dubai to Muscat. The journey took about 5-6 hours to reach our destination. We had a known family to host us in Muscat for our 3 days trip.

The road trip to cross the Arabian deserts, rocky mountains and little farms and oases, we reached Muscat and slept well at our host's house.

The next day, we drove to Jebal Akhdar, part of the Hajar Mountains of Oman. At the base of the mountain, the officials check for 4WD vehicles as the drive is steep. On our way we stopped at the famous Nizwa canyon. The deep canyon reminds of the Colorado in the US. It had deep gorges and was very rocky and steep. We enjoyed the canyon views and drove to Hotel Alila for lunch. We could see a lot of vegetation, pomegranate orchards, date farms on the way to the top.

One of our cars had a problem to climb and we all got into one to finish our drive

Lovely moments from Jebal Akhdar with friends and kids

Next day, we drove to the beautiful Wadi Dayqah Dam, turquoise coloured water surrounded with rocky mountains. We walked down to the crystal clear water in the dam. It was a super hot day, however the scenic beauty was attractive here.

Some fun time in the dam

We then drove to a date orchard to have a picnic lunch. It was a nice experience to have food in the shades of the date palms and clear water flowing alongside for irrigation, on a very hot and sunny afternoon. Post lunch, we drove to the Bimmah Sinkhole

Bimmah Sinkhole is an interesting location in Oman. As per the legends, this sinkhole was formed due to the impact of a meteor that fell from the sky. Be it so or not, the sinkhole has clear water and a perfect place for family hangout.

Later, in the evening, we visited the Wadi Bani Khalid. This place has a lot of greenery with surrounding water, date palm orchards , lot of vegetation and natural pools.

Our trip moments!

Thanks to our lovely host for our Oman trip
