Namskaram... Silent Valley yilekku ningalkku swagatam!!

Silent Valley is a National Park located in the Palakkad District of Kerala. The area is surrounded by Nilgiri Hills of the Western Ghats. The place offers trekking routes into the forests, enjoy the natural beauty of flowing rivers and thick forests to its visitors.

We made a family visit to this beautiful place. We can drive our private vehicle until the office located near the entrance of the park, further from there, tourists and trekkers must take the jeeps authorized by the forest department / national park to access the inner forest areas. A prior permission is recommended during peak seasons in order to reserve a jeep for the drive.

After the bumpy and dusty jeep drive through the forest paths, we reach the watch tower for stunning views of the park.

After enjoying the views, the forest guide walked us to the River Kunthipuzha through the forest trails. We got to see the lion-tailed macaque, for which the valley is famous for. Also, the rare wild squirrels. We couldn't spot the Horn bills though... A variety of flowering and non flowering tress were seen all the way throughout the trek.

We drove back the jeep until the forest office and then left the valley after our family trek :)
