Weekend in Nelliyampaty Hills

We went on a weekend getaway to Kollengode and Nelliyampaty hills with friends and family.

Started off around 8 am from Thrissur and reached Kollengode in an hour and half. We visited Seetharkundu falls, Chingamchira etc at Kollengode. After having lunch at a homely meal restaurant, we headed towards Nelliyampaty.

Nelliyampaty is beautifully located on the western ghats of Kerala. We have to secure pass from forest office on the foothills to drive up the hilly terrain. We reached Nelliyampaty town after driving through the forest roads for about an hour. We parked our cars there and rented jeep for an off-road drive to Misty valley where we would spend the night in a bungalow built long ago .

We went in night safari to get a close look at Indian bison, deers etc. after dinner, we enjoyed campfire with some nice songs and dance moves.

We checked out next day after breakfast and visited the Greenland farmhouse, orange farms etc in Nelliyampaty. Finally we took a pit stop at Pothundi dam and then headed back to Thrissur.
